Jedward to be real pop idols.. in Albania!
BARMY singing twins Jedward have a n-ice, n-ice gig lined up, baby. . . on Pop Idol in ALBANIA.
The boys have been invited to sing their Eurovision Song Contest track Lipstick in the former communist country next month.
And if all goes well they could become as big as the late comic Norman Wisdom, who had a huge following in the dirt-poor Eastern European country.
This week Jedward, who shot to fame with their version of Ice Ice Baby on the X Factor, sang Lipstick for President Barack Obama on his trip to their native Ireland.
And weeks ago they finished eighth in the Eurovision Song Contest - which prompted the call inviting them to Albania.
Our insider said: "It was one of the first offers that came in after it and we thought it was a joke.
"When we found that it was legitimate we decided to go for it because it opens the door into the Eastern European music market. Clearly they love Eurovision, and Jedward, too." Now their manager - X Factor judge Louis Walsh - is re-releasing their first album Planet Jedward in Germany, Sweden and Austria to cash in on the Eurovision effect - while trying to get them on to chat shows in the US, too.
Eurovision also raised their profile here - with Channel 5's new Big Brother show keen to sign them.
More bizarrely, the boys with the pointy hair now have a big following... in the Middle East.
They've been invited to sing on TV in Abu Dhabi - but told to leave racy backing dancers at home.
Our insider said: "We thought that was a joke too. It's hard to believe that Jedward have managed to capture the Arab market - but it just goes to show the power of Eurovision."
